Course Details

Our EAP Course is designed to prepare students for the academic rigour of a degree course with a focus on critical thinking, academic writing, presentation skills, and referencing. This course effectively integrates the four macro-skills, which optimises the possibility of a student becoming an autonomous learner, which is a pre-requisite for academic success at a university level. By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently and effectively participate in university lectures and lab classes, as well as excel in academic writing, reading, referencing, and presentations. The core curriculum is based on a comprehensive set of resources that include a variety of authentic academic materials. Course Structure: The course is a 12-week course with 20 face-to-face hours per week. Students enhance the following skills: Speaking, Reading and Critical Thinking, Functional Language and Grammar, Writing, Listening Note-taking, and Academic Referencing. Students are provided a creative and supportive classroom environment as they acclimatize to an appropriate degree of academic intensity. Students will undergo a series of assessments, including presentations, essay writing, active listening comprehension, and reading comprehension tasks. Attendance (for Student visa holders): It is required by the Australian Department of Home Affairs that you attend at least 80% of your classes. Attendance is also part of your course completion requirements, as it is an attendance-based course. EAP Certification: At the end of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and a transcript of your academic progress. Entry pre-requisites: Suitable level of English Proficiency on a pre-entry test (CEFR B2 - Upper-Intermediate); IELTS overall score of 5.0 or equivalent; Completed General English Intermediate level (if the course has been completed with a different provider, an internal language proficiency test is to be completed). Minimum age of 18.
